"Big things start with small things."
Biochemistry, Room 411, Johnson building, University of Pennsylvania. It was during
that class wherein something big was happening in my life but I didn't know it yet at that
time. At that time, it was just a regular day for me. I was in my last year of med school and I
was listening to the present discussion of my professor. Next thing I know, some guy sat
beside me and said "Any chance you have an extra pen? Mine ran out of ink". So naturally I
just passed him one, smiled, then paid attention to the discussion once again.
After class was over, I headed home to review for a bit and prepare for dinner with my
parents. So my day seemed like just an ordinary day for a med student. Dinner went well, I
love spending time with my parents. We don't get to see each other often for they live in
California, and I'm on the East coast so I treasure every moment I spend with them; I also call
every weekend just to catch up on things. I owe it up to them for they funded me throughout
my studies. At around 8:30 I excused myself and headed home for I had a long day and
needed some rest. When I got to my apartment, my roommate a.k.a my best friend, Eliza,
still wasn't home, so I figured she was still on campus. I then made my way to my room to
get changed and ready for bed. Right before I was about to go to deep sleep, my phone
vibrated, I got a text from unknown number saying "Thanks for the pen, see you in biochem".
Then everything just went black...
3 more days til my exams then it will be the start of winter break. My days have
consisted of books, libraries, and scientific terms. Every once in awhile, I'd join study groups
but at the moment I'm the only one with a free period. I'm presently at the cafe, located in the
center of campus with my books, making flashcards. Next thing I know, a pen was dropped
on the center of my book, and a guy sat down beside me holding two frappuccinos, the same
guy from yesterday. He offered to help me review for exams, I politely declined thinking it
would be inconvenient for him. But then he insisted in doing so and said it would help him
review as well. Later on, I started to get to know him, his name was Andre, and he was taking
the same course or specialty as I was.
Andre and I have been spending a lot of time together, considering that exams are over
(we both did well) and it's already the last day of winter break. Turns out we have a lot more
in common than just our course. Enough similarities to get us to become best friends. Him
and Eliza get a long very well. Time passed by quickly, things change, Andre and I started
dating and graduation is today. It was a wonderful moment, my parents looked so proud
which made me smile. A few years pass by and I'm a resident in some hospital in
Pennsylvania, Andre works in another hospital 25 minutes away from mine. Eliza and I work
in the same hospital though. We are still very very close friends, So overall things are going
great for me so far...
3 months go by and the next thing I know, I'm engaged. Andre proposed to me when the
three of us planned to go out for dinner but Eliza bailed last minute, now I know why. The
wedding is scheduled to happen a year from now. We hired David Tutera as our wedding
planner and the ceremony was going to be held in a really beautiful church, then the reception
would be in a very grand hotel. I wanted the wedding to be very big for it only happens once
and it's every girls dream to have a grand wedding.
My wedding day went well. Everything went as planned and it turned out to be a
beautiful and successful event. 2 years go by and our life as a married couple is going great.
Our careers are turning out well and I'm being promoted as an attendee in a month. We
moved to another state and no longer live in Pennsylvania. I still keep in touch with my
family, we live 2 hours away from them. (Yes we moved to the west coast). I'm also
expecting twins in the next 9 months.
So, my life turned out to be wonderful. It may seem like a fairy tale but problems did
come my way, I just didn't include them in the story because I was able to overcome them. I
met my husband through a pen, So one thing I did learn in life is that "Big things start with
small things".

The story was great. The story was realistic and it's true that big things can start with small things.
