"ArrozCaldoForTheHeart"Arroz caldo is a hearty Filipino congee/"lugaw" and topped with crunchy fried garlic. The result is a quick, comforting bowl that's a perfect rainy time meal (and rivals chicken soup for its ability to sooth those suffering from a cold). Like this famous blend of culture dish, this blog aims to share Christian Living inputs such as insights or opinions, original stories and the like from the compilations of the projects of his students for the past decade. May these readings sooth the sunken soul, tired heart and stressed body.

“My Ideal Marriage Life”

by: Mikaela Palacios 9D CN: 30

Love wasn’t really a big deal for me, it was just always love for food, TV shows, family and more, but this changed everything for me. I was Grade 9 at this time and he just came back from Singapore. I remember we used to be enemies when we were Grade 1 but after Grade 1 I haven’t seen him since. When I saw him I wondered why were we enemies and what did I do, but then I realized that it was in the past and I should forget about it. After several group projects together we suddenly started to get closer and became best friends. Our friendship was strong because whenever we had problems we would always be there for each other. I remember when I needed a notebook for school and when I told him he immediately insisted to get his. A few years later he and I were in college. College was a difficult time for me because that was the time when I had love problems. It was our 5 month anniversary and I caught my boyfriend cheating on me. When I told Lance about what happened I knew that he was the one for me because I saw how he really cared for me and how he would do anything for me. I then realized my feelings for me him after that. A few months later I saw him with a girl on Valentines day and he was holding a rose. After that my heart broke I wanted to confront him and tell him how I felt but then I just decided to run. As I ran I realized that someone was following me so I stopped and when I turned around I saw him holding the rose earlier and I realized that rose was for me all along. He told me that he ordered it from her and all along he had feelings for me as he told me the truth I finally said to him what I felt. After a few months of dating we finally became a couple. A few years later we went on a business trip to Paris and that day gave me a big surprise because that was time where he proposed to me. I told him a year ago that we could get married but a never expected it to be in Paris.

We immediately got home after that and when I told my parents they told me that he asked permission a few days before our trip. We have decided to get married at Presentation of the Child Jesus ( PCJ ) because it was the church where we both went to since birth. As we enter the church to do the preparations for our marriage I see and remember all the memories that was made with my family when I was young and how much has changed till this day. I saw myself at that moment and I knew that this was a start of a new beginning and an end. I got nervous at that time but seeing the person I love beside me and remembering that God is with me gave me the strength to continue my journey. I remember how I suddenly got excited when we talked to the parish for the preparations for getting married and realized that the Lord has blessed me because I will be with someone who will love me till the end. I remember when we were having an interview with the priest and as we go to the priest we stop and Lance says to me “Im always here for you”, those words were so few but it meant a lot to me because this gave me the strength I my life and helped me through my problems. In the interview the priest told me that we should have more than just faith and that only love and the power of God and prayer can hold our relationship together. What the priest said to me was not only an inspiration of keeping my relationship with him strong but was guide through my whole life. Months later we finally got married and after a few years later we had twins, a boy and a girl, they were another blessing in my life. Now my children are getting married and all of this comes back to me. Marriage is a commitment to love your husband or wife and to never destroy its relationship, I know now that marriage and love is not only a blessing or a sacrament but a gift from God because it helps us learn to trust your husband or wife and to always have faith in the Lord.

Reflection:

Every blessing is a miracle because you never know when it may come and you will never know when something will end to open a new beginning. This project for me does not only help me know about the Sacrament of Matrimony and the kinds of love but it also made me realize that marriage is something that tests your faith in the person you love. This makes me stronger and gives me the opportunity to know how to hold my faith and trust the one I love. Marriage is not only a vow to love but also to have a strong faith. It is also for our prayers to become even stronger because these prayers will help us have a better relationship. God is a guidance to every person’s life and  relationship.

  11. A Great Story! It's very realistic. I learned that love is a long journey. It's hard because there would be a lot of tough problems along the way but they can only be solved by the grace of God and by total faith in Him. There are a lot of times when we feel heartbroken and times when we're not but couples should really feel love for one another or else it wouldn't work out. Nice story, Mika!

  12. “MY IDEAL MARRIAGE LIFE" By Mika Palacios

This story had the right amount of romance and it touched my heart a lot. I appreciate the fact that Mika didn't have a successful relationship at first because it led to her relationship with the "one". It shows that God has different plans for us and there is hope that we will find someone to love for the rest of our life. It is all about time. I liked every single part because they worked well with one another.

The part where Lance was ordering the rose from a girl I was memorable for me. First of all, that was where Mika opened up, which is hard for our generation to do. Secondly, she over-analyzed the situation which is something I would do and should avoid. This story is something I won't forget.

  13. I like this story. This story showed that love does not always start good and might have to go though hardship first. It also showed that what comes after the hardship is worth the pain. This story also showed how important God is in relationships.

  16. This story is so cool, from enemies at the start becoming best friends and now a couple, from being enemies how do even manage that this girl can, but this love is like a game because at the end you will stay with the person you love. With God with this couple anything is possible for them.
