arrozcaldofortheheart

"ArrozCaldoForTheHeart"Arroz caldo is a hearty Filipino congee/"lugaw" and topped with crunchy fried garlic. The result is a quick, comforting bowl that's a perfect rainy time meal (and rivals chicken soup for its ability to sooth those suffering from a cold). Like this famous blend of culture dish, this blog aims to share Christian Living inputs such as insights or opinions, original stories and the like from the compilations of the projects of his students for the past decade. May these readings sooth the sunken soul, tired heart and stressed body.

"Jolo"

"MY PROJECTED IDEAL MARRIED LIFE"

When you're in love, the world seems brighter, your feet feel lighter and you can't help but always carry a smile wherever you go. When you wake up you can't just help but smile and laugh cause you're in love. In love with this amazing person whom you just adore. This amazing person who you just can't stop thinking about because they can never stop being perfect to you. So perfect that no matter how many ugly faces he tries to make when you take selfies, he'll still be so perfect. You can't take your eyes off of him. And when you see him smile, you can't help but smile too. And when he notices that smile of yours that was actually caused by him, he'll fall in love with you. Because love is contagious.

When I met Jolo Cansana that's what I felt. We first met in grade 3 when we were classmates. I always found him so annoying because he would never stop talking about math. We were always friends through the school years even though we weren't classmates. Then in grade 7 we became classmates again. We became best friends in grade 7 because he would always help me in our math homeworks. We still remained as best friends until we hit senior year. I always told him that we would just remain as best friends until he told me he liked me and I guess only until that moment I realized that I somehow liked him too. Not because of his looks or anything but because of how he made me laugh. The thing is, he told me this on the last day of senior year. Graduation day. I was set to go to Stanford University in early September and just when I told him that, he told me that he was going there too. So when we got to Stanford in September, we always stayed together and hung out a lot. Years past and we were still together no matter how many fights we've had. It's graduation day and after the Summa Cum Laude gives his speech, I see Jolo walking across his aisle, crossing the stage, going to my seat, everyone murmuring. He comes to me and proposes in front of the whole crowd. My parents so shocked. Everyone screaming and telling me to say "yes". I held his hand and said "I'm sorry Jolo not now, we're too young and I want to follow my dreams and build my professional tennis career." Jolo said to me "I understand, it's okay." So he went back to his seat and everyone patting him in the back and consoling him. After the ceremony I went to my parents and they said I made the right choice. Then Jolo came and still hugged me despite my refusal to marry him. And he told me that he would support me no matter what.

Years past and Jolo comes with me on the WTA tour if he can take some time off from his job as a computer scientist. Ever since I graduated from college, I've been building my ranking on the WTA ( Women's Tennis Association ) tour, winning plenty of futures and WTA titles. Two years after I've graduated, I'm already ranked top 100 in the world. Then, I return to the Carlos-Rodriguez Tennis Academy in Beijing, China to train for a couple months. After a year, I get to play all the grandslams, namely Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon Open and US Open! The the next year, on Wimbledon's Center Court, I play the final against Serena Williams, one of my true idols. And my dream has come true, I beat her and win my first Grandslam and the biggest tournament in the world. By the age of 25 I am the first ever Filipino to win a Grandslam. After I won that last point, I went to the bleachers to hug my family and coaches and team, and Jolo. Right after I receive the Venus Rosewater Dish and right after I make my winning speech, Jolo suddenly comes down from my box and goes down on one knee proposes saying, "You've accomplished your dream now, would you allow me to accomplish mine?" And this time I said "yes." The crowd was cheering. This was the best day of my life. We get married six months later in a beach in Hawaii. After I retired from my professional tennis career at the age of 32, we have twins named Nick and Kristina. We now live in my dream home in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

If you are truly in love with someone, waiting for the time when they are ready wouldn't be a problem. That is my life goal. To accomplish all my goals and dreams in life then marry the one. I will always put my goals before love life because I am dedicated to finishing and accomplishing them for the glory of God. And when I feel I've done my part and God says it's time to retire and get married, I will. Just like what my idol Li Na from China did.

(Just saying sir, Jolo and I are just friends in real life; he was the only boy classmate online that I could ask to use for this project)

This story shows us what happens in the real world and I like the fact that it is very realistic, we should always remember that no matter how much you love someone, you still have your own priorities.
